Vintage Carved Indian Rosewood Box

Found at market in the north of England, we are pleased to offer this magnificent Carved Wooden Box, originally from India and dating from the 1920s-1930s. This magical box, with its warm patina, hints at its journey across oceans and continents, carrying secrets, treasures, and memories.

Hand-crafted in great detail out of rosewood, we are particularly taken by the intricate woodworking of this piece. The lid is dressed with a finely detailed carved medallion at the center surrounded by a quatrefoil filled with stylized rosette and leaf and branch elements. The rest of the lid is covered in intricately carved vines and leaves. This vine and leaf theme also continues around the sides of the box. Lined with bright red fabric and containing two separate compartments (sized for cigarettes of the period but now useful for trinkets of all kinds), this one-of-a-kind box is sure to share its certain beauty and natural aesthetic with your home today.
