Edwardian Sterling Silver Cut Crystal Decanter

Gracefully imagined and magnificent in nature, this exquisite vessel was found at a recent silver market in the north of England.

A beautiful example of serveware from the Edwardian era, designed to captivate distinguished guests, the slender neck of this stately decanter is engraved with the letter "H". Designed for maximum allure, the addition of liquid to the decanter creates a stunning effect in which the engraved cuts within the glass glimmer and dance in the flickering light.

Stamped with marks indicating production in 1909 and an assay mark for Sheffield, this statuesque decanter also includes a makers mark from the family firm of Sheffield's John Round & Son. Founded in 1847 in a small workshop attached to the family's Tudor Street residence, the company later expanded to the Tudor works with eventual showrooms in London and Montreal.

With an impressive stature of sculptured wheel-cut crystal and embellished with a magnificent sterling silver neck and stopper, this beautiful decanter will surely make a swoon-worthy gift or memorable addition to any well-dressed table or bar.
