1917 Silver & Glass Jug

1917 Silver & Glass Jug

$175.00

Sparkling at every turn with brilliantly cut crystal and gleaming silver, this charming jug—recently found at market—captures the quiet elegance of a bygone table.

Produced in Sheffield by George Wish & Co. and bearing a date mark for 1917, it was crafted in the final years of the First World War. The faceted crystal body catches and reflects the light beautifully, while the silver mount and handle lend both structure and a subtle sense of occasion.

Petite in scale, pieces such as this were often found on well-appointed breakfast or tea tables, used for pouring cream, syrup, or a small measure of sauce. It is easy to imagine it set alongside toast and preserves, or brought out in the afternoon with tea—its size lending itself to moments of quiet indulgence rather than grand display.

Today, it remains as versatile as it is charming: perfect for maple syrup at breakfast, a touch of cream at tea, or even a small bouquet of flowers. Both decorative and practical, it is a charming object with shining historical provenance.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In very good antique condition. 4.5"H x 4.5"W including handle.
